Chapter One: The System of Things
Why does building a career of meaning matter? Students will learn why this course matters, as well as the core concepts and terms that will be covered.

Understanding Canada's different economic contexts and why context matters in every career. Students will also explore global career trends and the future of work in Canada.

Chapter Three: We Don’t Know What We Don’t Know
How to dig deeper and learn what you don't know you don't know. Students will work to identify their passion and career focus, while fine-tuning their listening skills.

Chapter Four: Hard Stuff is Hard
Hard decisions are hard, but good problem solving begins with asking the better question. Students will explore different career opportunities before working to ask their better career-focused question.

Chapter Five: Here’s How
Why process matters (and doesn't). Students will explore collaboration in the workplace and how to make money and do good, while also building critical job-acquiring skills.

Chapter Six: Your Turn
It's time to create! Students are introduced to their final project and are offered tools from diverse experts to help them excel.

Chapter Seven: Dig Deeper
Why critical thinking matters and how to be a better critical thinker. Students will build on and apply the knowledge they acquired in the first half of this course, in order to help them with their final project and in life.

Chapter Eight: Be Better
Words matter. Listening matters. Being heard matters. Students will explore the importance of good communication and consultation, while building on and applying the knowledge they acquired in the first half of this course as they pursue their final project.

Chapter Nine: Own Your Hypocrisy
Don't be a hypocrite: for the sake of our democracy, we need to be better critics. Students will work to improve their skills as both reviewers and reviewees, while putting their final project under the microscope for peer feedback.

Chapter Ten: Keep Going
Key Ideas: Keep going (sometimes). Students will explore different types of failure, why mentorship can help and the importance of resiliency.

Chapter Eleven: One Last Thing
That one thing everyone wishes they knew at 15. Students will explore life lessons from 150 diverse citizens and learn how this class can help them in the future, no matter what life they choose to live.

Part Three: Real-World Connections

For this part of the lesson, students will select the final chapter of their Inquiry Media.

Note: This story is available in video, audio and written formats, and aims to help students connect class lessons to real-world issues, while also underscoring the multi-disciplinary, cross-curricular applications of this course. Additionally, the Inquiry Media stories will help students reflect on ideas that might help inform their final project.

You can decide whether students will consume this story at home, as an assignment, or in class.

With each Inquiry Media story, we have designed three optional activities to help students reflect on the lesson:

Task: Students can complete a mini-activity to test their understanding of the main themes presented in the story.
What do you think?: Students can reflect or answer questions that relate to the themes presented in the story.
Terms and concepts: Students can work to define the terms that were presented in the story.
